Lonely Oasis

Lonely Oasis is an immersive living sculpture conceived and built by me at Nowhere Festival in the Monegros Desert, Spain in 2024.

The theme of the sculpture is the burden of responsibility and its unintended consequences, featuring a living greenhouse full of plants and vegetables and its fictional owner. The viewer discovers the journey this character undertakes to help keep this fragile living object alive, and in the process the viewer can reflect on their own experience with responsibilities.

The piece features a greenhouse owned by a fictional character, complemented by an immersive soundscape synched to a lighting sequence. Inside, there are both clues to this characters life and a handwritten diary that charts the progress of the greenhouse along with the character’s decline (written by my collaborator on this project, Jacqueline Bond).
